Who is Nurse Liz? Well, not shockingly, I’m a nurse, named Liz. I’m also a family nurse practitioner who graduated from Michigan State University in May 2018 with my Masters of Science in Nursing. One day I’ll go back and get my DNP, but that can wait a year, or five. I am a wife to Joe and a mom to Avery, a wild toddler, and Holly, a 7 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. My little family is currently settled in North Carolina, but we have lived in California, Delaware, and Michigan.
While going through nursing and NP school I had a million questions about what I should be doing to navigate the world of nursing a bit more smoothly. Unable to find these answers, I began making YouTube Videos because:
- I love to talk
- I love to teach
My nursing career began on a med-surg unit that specialized in GI/liver and kidney disease. It was smelly, a trial by fire, but in hindsight it helped me become a more confident and assertive nurse. After putting in my time with adults, I traveled over to the magical world of pediatric cardiology and thoracic surgery, where I happily remained until I moved on to become an NP. I’m now working part-time as a family nurse practitioner at a family practice.
So, if you are a nurse, nursing student of any sort, or just love to hear sarcastic people talk—welcome! I’m super glad you are here.
