This week we paid off a nursing school student loan, Avery discovered she is passionate about Easter egg hunts, I take you on a tour of my office at work, and I have my first solo Saturday at work as a Family Nurse Practitioner. It was a wild week! But a fun one. In it I shared some of how we are tackling our combined student loans, and how we plan to pay them off. Let me know if you want a whole video dedicated to that!

BEDSIDE NURSE VS FNP
One of the questions I get asked most frequently is “do you miss being a bedside nurse?”. And the answer is yes! There are absolutely things I miss about being a bedside nurse, and some things I definitely don’t miss. In today’s video I’ll talk about which I like better, my role as a Family Nurse Practitioner or a bedside nurse. I’ll discuss what I miss about being a nurse on an inpatient unit, what I don’t miss about that, and some things I am loving about NP life.
MY BIGGEST PREGNANCY CONCERN 🤰
This week we will discuss what I’m most worried about going into the birth of baby number two, how I approach physical exams, what I talk about with drug reps and new providers when they come visit the office, as well as starting end of life and goals of care conversations. We also tour the hospital I’ll be having the baby in, and Avery insults my baking. Have great week!

In today’s video we tackle the question “Do you new grad nurses have to start on a Med-Surg Unit”. When I was in school this was the popular idea, and it seems to be frequently encouraged to this day, because I get asked this all the time! I DID start in med-surg but not entirely by choice, as you’ll hear. However, it gave me some great insight to bring to you, and I can give you the pro’s and con’s of starting in Med-Surg versus a specialty.
