This week we got house stuff done! At least we tried too. Avery got sick again which put a bit of a damper on our plans, but overall still super productive! We got our new Lull mattress for our bed, which we are loving, and I’m sleeping super soundly for once! We also put together our guest room, organized the garage, and decorated Avery’s room. I’ll take you along for all the Memorial Day weekend adventures as well as the usual work week, where we will discuss what to do when you don’t know what to do with your patients, how we handle when to refer vs not, and the usual! Hope you had a great holiday as well!
WEEK IN THE LIFE OF AN NP
THE AFTERMATH OF VACATION
In this weeks vlog I had quite the surprise as I returned back to work at my Family Nurse Practitioner Job. I’m very used to my Registered Nurse Job where my return is fairly smooth, and this was anything but. I’ll also talk you through how I handle it when patients can’t go to a specialist but they need one, how I decide between therapy and medication for anxiety and depression, how I look up new information when I encounter unfamiliar diagnoses, and my tips for monitoring blood pressure at home!
FAMILY VACATION 2019
This week we went on a family trip to Myrtle Beach with my family! It was such a great break from the regular grind.
HARDEST PART OF BEING A WORKING PARENT
What do you do when your baby is sick and you have to miss work? We have been working on navigating that lately and it’s honestly been rough! Working in healthcare especially, it feels like your absence affects so much and I feel insanely guilty staying home to care for my sick child, but at the same time that is where I want to be the most. In the video I’ll explain how we approach this aspect of being a working parent, why I think its the hardest, and some solutions we will be trying to see if it makes things easier. I’ll also talk about physicals, how to know when people should come in for follow up appointments, and we go to the “zoo”.
