The Ups and Downs. This week we celebrated hitting 25K! Thank you guys so much for all your support and for following along on this crazy adventure. I so so appreciate it. This week was a bit odd at work, it had some really neat highs, and some disappointing lows. But that made it a pretty good representation of the emotions I’ve had over the last few months as I launched into this new career. Theres also lots of family adventures thrown in there, hope you enjoy!
WEEK IN THE LIFE OF AN NP
COLD AND FLU SEASON
This week I felt like I worked at urgent care, and it was the worst! I am oh so appreciative of people who work in urgent care, because I have ZERO patients for it apparently! I also demonstrate some of my excellent parenting skills and make pizza and focaccia on my bread baking adventure!
MORE WORK RESPONSIBILITY
This week I got a ton of stuff done! And then got nauseous again. Bummer. I got some new responsibilities at work as a Family Nurse Practitioner and had to work on my delegating skills as I laid out some new policies that should help streamline some processes in the long run. I also had my nuchal translucency scan and finally updated the NP binder!
BAKING BREAD AND A CAR ACCIDENT
In this weeks vlog there’s awesome things, like bread baking. And not awesome things, like getting in my first car accident. Like usual, I’ll also take you with me as I navigate my week as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This week we talk about how I approach taking AWAY medications, particularly ones that can cause harm to older adults, how I de-escalate angry patients and approach that situation in general, and what it’s like to have just not so hot days in general where I feel super overwhelmed because I’m still super new.
