Family Nurse Practitioner Weekly Vlog No.51. We had baby number two’s anatomy scan this week! And we are so excited to share the gender with all of you! This week I also talk about how I tackle the oh so fun “I want a z-pack” request, how I talk about the uncomfortable stuff with my patients, and confront dr. google. Hope you enjoy! And don’t forget to leave those baby names down below!
COPING WITH PATIENT DEATH
In today’s video we will talk about some of my coping mechanisms I put in place when patients die or experience poor outcomes. Dealing with patient loss and the general sadness that can come with healthcare was something that caught me completely off guard coming out of nursing school, and it took me a long time to figure out how to process what I was seeing when I went to work. Hopefully this is helpful for some of you who may be experiencing the same thing.
THE FUR BABY 🐶
This week is all about Holly! We get to go meet her future babysitter and she has her first vet visit in.. years. oops. We’ll talk about some other fun facts about our fur baby and give her some attention on here since she doesn’t always get much! We also go through my usual work week. I’ll give some info on how my nursing experience has been helpful in my NP job, I rant about insurance companies and some of the challenges of primary care, and go over how I educate about diabetes before diagnosis!
DIY REFERENCE NOTEBOOK
For New Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Students. In this video I’ll explain how I made and use my reference notebook I use at my job as an FNP. Its a great way to organize new information and reference it quickly whether you are a new nurse, nursing student, or nurse practitioner!
